What is Narkal

Narkal provides a platform for honest, eco-friendly restaurants to be recognized. Our mission is to create a movement to improve the quality of what is accepted as “normal practices” in our food system.

Narkal is also a tiny flying narwhal that uses his superpowers to help you find healthy, honest restaurants that meet your dietary needs.

What is Narkal

For far too long we've relied on government agencies to oversee our food system. These regulations were put in place to set standards for manufacturing and distributing and selling food. Times have changed and, let's be honest, the main interest of these organizations is to protect their shareholders, not individuals. Fingers can be pointed at corrupt politicians, corporate lobbyists, corners being cut, advances in technology.. and the list goes on.

Why We Need Narkal

For far too long we've relied on government agencies to oversee our food system. These organizations were founded to set standards for manufacturing, distributing, and selling food. Times have changed and, let's be honest, the main interest of these organizations is to protect the corporations, not our overall health as individuals. Fingers can be pointed at dirty politics, corporate lobbyists, corners being cut to protect the bottom line, advances in technology.. and the list goes on.

Now is the time we can change this. Narkal gives us back this power by bringing the voice back to us as individuals. Narkal's vision is to connect you to local restaurants who source from local farmers. This trickle down system not only gives you access to healthier food, but supports local businesses and minimizes our impact on the environment.

How you are already
being Narkally

You have probably noticed that restaurants are taking environmentally conscious steps more and more each day. Part of why is that they know that we value these "Narkally" traits and they want us as their customers. To woo the modern savvy restaurant goer they want to let us know about how they get their food locally, composting and recycling materials and even banning straws in restaurants (or coffee shops like Starbucks!) is now the way businesses feel they will attract their clientele.

Sometimes we are being Narkally with our food choices in restaurants, or in how we purchase our groceries at the store. We want to know about the farms. Free range eggs are worth more. High end beef is often distinguished by the fact that it was grass-fed or even massaged and given beer (i.e. Waygu and Kobe beef)

How you are already
being Narkally

Chances are you are already making Narkally choices in your day-to-day life. Do you recycle when recycling bins are accessible? Do you choose organic or local produce when it's available? Do you read food labels and look at the ingredients list?

If you answered YES to these questions, chances are you already thinking about making healthier choices for yourself and the environment. The Narkal Project is building a bridge to connect individuals to this information so they can easily make better choices.
